State of the Church

For the last few days I have been hearing the refrain to this song in my spirit.

You've Lost That Lovin
' Feeling
~ Righteous Brothers

You never close your eyes anymore when I kiss your lips
And there's no tenderness like before in your fingertips
You're trying hard not to show it, baby
But baby, baby I know it

    You've lost that lovin' feeling
    Whoa, that lovin' feeling
    You've lost that lovin' feeling
Now it's gone, gone, gone, wooooooh

Now there's no welcome look in your eyes when I reach for you
And now your're starting to criticize little things I do
It makes me just feel like crying, baby
'Cause baby, something in you is dying

Baby, baby, I get down on my knees for you
If you would only love me like you used to do, yeah
We had a love, a love, a love you don't find everyday
    So don't, don't, don't, don't let it slip away
    Baby, baby, baby, baby
I beg of you please, please
I need your love, I need your love
I need your love, I need your love
So bring it on back, so bring it on back
Bring it on back, so bring it on back

    Bring back that lovin' feeling
    Whoa, that lovin' feeling
    Bring back that lovin' feeling
    'Cause it's gone, gone, gone

And I can't go on, no

    Bring back that lovin' feeling
    Whoa, that lovin' feeling
    Bring back that lovin' feeling
    'Cause it's gone, gone, gone

Now some of you will want to hit delete because i just posted a secular song.  Some of you will understand that God will use whatever it takes to be heard when He wants to be heard.

Revelation 2

2:1 "To the angel of the church in Ephesus write: The One who holds the seven stars in His right hand, the One who walks among * the seven golden lampstands, says this:

2:2 'I know your deeds and your toil and perseverance, and that you cannot * tolerate evil men, and you put to the test those who call themselves apostles, and they are not, and you found them to be false;

2:3 and you have perseverance and have endured for My name's sake, and have not grown weary.

2:4 'But I have this against you, that you have left your first love.

2:5 'Therefore remember from where you have fallen, and repent and do the deeds you did at first; or else I am coming to you and will remove your lampstand out of its place --unless * you repent.

2:6 'Yet this you do have, that you hate the deeds of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate.

2:7 'He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes, I will grant to eat of the tree of life which is in the Paradise of God.'

The Righteous Brothers wrote the above song about a groom pleading to his wife (or some guy and some girl too) to rekindle to BRING BACK the "LOVIN FEELIN"   Now we dont operate by "feelin" but by the Faith Of the Son of God but... it might be said that the "lovin feelin" is best expressed in the life and the works we live and do which stem from our love borne of gratitude for what Jesus has done.  Now in many aspects Ephesus was right on the money.  They had it " all goin on".  They didnt tolerate what He wouldnt tolerate and they did the work He desired of them but that "lovin feelin" was gone, gone, gone.

Indeed to read the lines of the song one finds that the enjoyment of the presence of one who was special to the "woman" was lacking, in its place was criticism.  The Songwriters say that "something is dyin" that its "slippin away"  This is more than mood perhaps its intimacy its taking time out to appreciate and tend to the relationship of Lover and Beloved.  The singer says he will get on his knees and plead to her to "bring back" the "lovin feelin"

Isaiah 29:13 Then the Lord said, "Because * this people draw near with their words And honor Me with their lip service, But they remove their hearts far from Me, And their reverence for Me consists of tradition * learned by rote,...

Now read the entire chapter and see all that is happening here...  the deadness of heart the blindness of eye and deafness of ear the spirit of slumber God PLACES on the covenanted House of Israel.  (Funny but this is the exact same thing i am seeing in the church today)  Lip service but nothing from the heart because something is dying in the heart of the People.  We are admonished no to frustrate the grace of God and not to grieve the Spirit of God where by we are sealed unto the day of redemption, but we do anyhow.

Ephesus was warned to repent of this "dead workings" or it would be removed from its place.  One of the recipients of this email is a dear friend of mine who does missions work and she and a group traveled to Turkey and thereabouts.  She visited the sites of the churches and testifies that Philadelphia ( at least i think she said it was that church) still had a family who tended it and was still standing but the other were RUINS!

Which leads Him to this scripture...
47:1 "Come down and sit in the dust, O virgin daughter of Babylon; Sit on the ground without a throne, O daughter of the Chaldeans ! For you shall no longer be called tender and delicate.

47:2 "Take the millstones and grind meal. Remove your veil, strip off the skirt, Uncover the leg, cross the rivers.

47:3 "Your nakedness will be uncovered, Your shame also will be exposed; I will take vengeance and will not spare a man."

47:4 Our Redeemer, the LORD of hosts is His name, The Holy One of Israel.

47:5 "Sit silently, and go into darkness, O daughter of the Chaldeans, For you will no longer be called The queen of kingdoms.

47:6 "I was angry with My people , I profaned My heritage And gave them into your hand. You did not show mercy to them, On the aged you made your yoke very heavy.

47:7 "Yet you said, 'I will be a queen forever *.' These things you did not consider * * Nor remember the outcome of them.

47:8 "Now, then, hear this, you sensual one, Who dwells securely, Who says in your heart, 'I am, and there is no one besides me. I will not sit as a widow, Nor know loss of children.'

47:9 "But these two things will come on you suddenly in one day: Loss of children and widowhood. They will come on you in full measure In spite of your many sorceries, In spite of the great power of your spells.

47:10 "You felt secure in your wickedness and said, 'No one sees me,' Your wisdom and your knowledge, they have deluded you; For you have said in your heart, 'I am, and there is no one besides me.'

47:11 "But evil will come on you Which you will not know how to charm away; And disaster will fall on you For which you cannot * atone ; And destruction about which you do not know Will come on you suddenly.

47:12 "Stand fast now in your spells And in your many sorceries With which you have labored from your youth; Perhaps you will be able to profit, Perhaps you may cause trembling.

47:13 "You are wearied with your many counsels; Let now the astrologers *, Those who prophesy by the stars, Those who predict by the new moons, Stand up and save you from what will come upon you.

47:14 "Behold, they have become like stubble, Fire burns them; They cannot deliver themselves from the power of the flame; There will be no coal to warm by Nor a fire to sit before !

47:15 "So have those become to you with whom you have labored, Who have trafficked with you from your youth; Each has wandered in his own way; There is none to save you.

The emphasis here is the attitude of this "VIRGIN DAUGHTER" she never thought she would see the day!   She thought she had it all together all sewn up tight but her condition can be said to be likened unto this other church...
Rev 3:14 "To the angel of the church in Laodicea write: The Amen, the faithful and true Witness, the Beginning of the creation of God, says this:

3:15 'I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot; I wish that you were cold or hot.

3:16 'So because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of My mouth.

3:17 'Because you say, "I am rich, and have become wealthy, and have need of nothing," and you do not know that you are wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked,

3:18 I advise you to buy from Me gold refined by fire so that you may become rich, and white garments so that you may clothe yourself, and that the shame of your nakedness will not be revealed; and eye salve to anoint your eyes so that you may see.

3:19 'Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline; therefore be zealous and repent.

3:20 'Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me.

3:21 'He who overcomes, I will grant to him to sit down with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.

3:22 'He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.' "

This i am told as i write is a spiritual condition which i know well. Apostacy.  So in closing comes this warning:

2Pet 3:7 But by His word the present heavens and earth are being reserved for fire, kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men.

3:8 But do not let this one fact escape your notice, beloved, that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years like one day.

3:9 The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.

3:10  But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, in which the heavens will pass away with a roar and the elements will be destroyed with intense heat , and the earth and its works will be burned up

Now you are asked dear reader.  Where are you in relationship to Him?
